LORA TALBOT'S REPORT ON RELIEF SOCIETY HUMANITARIAN PROJECT

                                             Lora Talbot

Friday, May 6th - 2:38 p.m.
I just returned from our R.S. humanitarian project for May, which was to help at Solomon's Porch.
Suzie Hedrick and Eva Parker were there from our ward, along with at least 2 sets of Elders, and other volunteers.
We unloaded the truck of food collected from local grocery stores, then filled boxes with the assorted items to be passed out to the needy. Then the boxes were passed out.The work wasn't hard; it only took about 10 minutes to pass out the food, and the Elders did most of the lifting of the boxes. Eva Parker did her share.

Susie Hedrick vacuumed all of their seating that was set up for Sunday service.

I was able to talk to the Pastor Jimi and learn about their non-denominational church, which is associated with the Four Square Church. He told me how much their church and our church have in common. I was very impressed with the service that they give to the community. They reach out to the down trodden, the needy and the homeless. They serve a very nice meal on Sunday as well.
They do this week after week as part of their ministry. I learned a lot from their example. I felt blessed to be able to spend a couple of hours with them today. This is one way that we can follow in Christ's footsteps in our daily lives.
The opportunity is there to help every Friday, and for the meal they serve on Sundays. As a Relief Society, we will be meeting again next Friday May 13 from 12:30 to 3:00 p.m. to render service again on that day.
