Carter MacArther (I need a new, Updated photo of him)
son of Carey and Dave bore his testimony.

Our first speaker this afternoon was Sandra Landon.
She and Jim Landon live on Player circle and have only been married about three months. They met at a fireside two years ago. She was born in El Salvador Central America and raised Catholic. Lived briefly in LA and then came to St. George to visit a friend and has been here for 22 years. She joined the Church here along with her two daughters. She gave us a quote I had not heard before "there is no growth in the comfort zone and no comfort in the Growth zone." Thank you Sandra!

 Concluding speaker was Jim Landon.
He read to us from the young women's theme.

We are daughters of our Heavenly Father who loves us, and we love him. We will “stand as witnesses of God at all times and in all things, and in all places” as we strive to live the Young Women Values, which are:
Faith
Divine Nature
Individual Worth
Knowledge
Choice and Accountability
Good Works and
Integrity
We believe as we come to accept and act upon these values, we will be prepared to make and keep sacred covenants, receive the ordinances of the temple, and enjoy the blessings of exaltation. (See Mosiah 18:9.)
He told us (from the book of Luke ) that Christ felt someone touch the hem of his robe and then wanted to know who it was. Of course it was the woman who had had an issue of blood for 12 years. And asking "who touched me "he wanted her to know she was healed Worthily. He wants Us to know that He knows who we are; That we can come unto him; that he always has time for us; that he loves us!!
I needed that reminder! Thank you Jim!!

Benediction: Max Maxfield

Elder Austin Henry Eyring, son of Sue & Tim Eyring & big brother to Alina,
was our first speaker. He has been called to the Brazil Santa Maria mission and will fly to the MTC in Brazil tomorrow.

He told us that Faith in Jesus Christ leads to action to become more like him.
As a prospective missionary of course he discussed missionary work! We were reminded that the  four sons of Mosiah all renounced becoming a king and went out to preach to the Lamanites. Ammon was captured and when brought before the king told the king he wanted to serve him all the rest of his days! All primary children know the exciting story of Ammon at the Waters of Sebus where rogue Lamanites came to run off the sheep and Ammon cut off their arms. With the conversion of King Lamoni and his court, thousands of Lamanites were converted to the Lord and none of them ever fell away!!
Elder Eyring then quoted Moses 1: 39. "For behold this is my work and my glory to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man" and bore his testimony, especially his testimony of prayer.

Christian Stucki provided us with a beautiful piano solo "We'll bring the world his truth."

Our next speaker was our high councilman, brother David Peterson.
His topic was "Better member missionaries." He suggested that we expand our circle of nonmember friends and then invite them into our homes and to our meeting houses, as there is a special spirit in our chapels!  Restored truth is free but it is so difficult to give away. He told us that a non-member has to have at least  seven contacts with either members or spiritual experiences before they are converted to the gospel!!
As members we need to be "finders" and then let the missionaries teach them.

Our stake president, James Bown
was our concluding speaker, bearing his testimony.

and Dori Wilkerson.

Conducting: first councilor Christopher Lamb

Announcements:. There will be a Stake primary activity in our building Saturday August 20 for all primary girls ages eight and over.

Book of Mormon reading: Alma chapters 43 through 51

Invocation: Jill Webb

Ward Business: Noah Sato, son of John & Kristie, was sustained as the newest Elder in our Ward!!!

Stake Business:  High councilman Mike Capik

of our ward presented several names of young people to serve on the Special Needs Committee of our stake. Included was our own Guy Ludlow.

Our youth speaker today was Nate Davis, son of Tammy and Scott Davis.
His topic was "Service". He told us there is an unlimited number of things we can do to help others. Christ was always serving others even when it wasn't convenient and he quoted Matt 14:13-22. (The disciples had just informed Christ that John the Baptist had been beheaded and they had just buried his body. Thank you Young Brother Davis! I just learned of this today from you!)

13 ¶When Jesus heard of it, he departed thence by ship into a desert place apart: and when the people had heard thereof, they followed him on foot out of the cities.
14 And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.
15 ¶And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals.
16 But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat.
17 And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes.
18 He said, Bring them hither to me.
19 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
20 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.

21 And they that had eaten were about five thousand men beside women and children.
22 And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.

Elder Nordstrom
who is from Pensacola Florida was our next speaker. His topic was 'Testimonies'. When Christ asked the apostle Peter "whom say ye that I am?" he replied that Jesus was the Christ. The only way he could have known that was from personal revelation from the Father. A testimony is personal knowledge of spiritual truth revealed by revelation. Testimonies are what moves this work, The spreading of the gospel , across the world. We cannot know spiritual truth without prayer and we are to testify and teach.

Elder Zuniga
is from South America; Born in Argentina and raised in Chile. His topic was "being converted."  Although the apostle Peter knew that Jesus was the Christ he was also told that Satan desired to have him, So when he was converted he was to strengthen his brethren.
Conversion is an offering of the whole self. The essence of the gospel is to learn how to change and improve. He told us that when the Lamanites were converted (Alma 23) they never did fall away. They had a knowledge of the truth and they buried their weapons of rebellion which were at the time their swords & knives;  In our time it would be pride and selfishness.

Benediction: Elders Q. President Randy Webb
